The Molten BG4550, BG4050 and BG3850 are all FIBA Approved basketballs for the 2023–2027 period, but they are designed for different levels of play and usage.
Molten BG4550 is the premium model within Molten's composite leather range. Compared to the BG4050, it features an additional Cushion Layer that provides enhanced comfort, a softer feel and improved ball control. The printed logo area has also been reduced, increasing the contact surface between the player's hand and the ball, resulting in superior grip. It is recommended for official competitions and players seeking top-level performance.
Molten BG4050 uses the same premium composite leather cover and the same 12-panel design, but features a firmer construction without the additional Cushion Layer. It incorporates deeper and more pronounced channels between the panels, making the ball easier to handle and control while providing excellent grip during play.
