"Futsal is the indoor version of classic football. Its name comes from the Portuguese "futebol de salão" and the Spanish "futbol de salon", both meaning indoor football.

Futsal is played by two teams, each with five players, one of whom is the goalkeeper; each team can have an additional number of reserves. Unlike other forms of indoor football, the pitch is delimited by lines rather than boards by which the ball can be played. Another difference is that the futsal ball does not bounce and is number 4 compared to soccer balls which are number 5.

Other forms of indoor soccer, which can be played with different rules, exist and can be called indoor soccer or 5-on-5 soccer.''
